Creative Healing Circles for People Living with Cancer

Hold & Unfold is a creative space
for people navigating life-altering diagnoses such as cancer — and for the loved ones who carry the journey with them.
We hold uncertainty, grief, and becoming — and through art and healing circles, we unfold resilience, meaning, and connection.

About Us

Hold & Unfold is a reflective framework rooted in the belief that healing requires both steadiness and movement. To hold is to create space — for emotion, uncertainty, and lived experience. To unfold is to gently explore, express, and make meaning over time. Our work is guided by a set of core Invitations — a structured yet spacious approach to creative reflection that supports regulation, insight, and agency. While much of our current work centers on individuals navigating cancer and serious illness, the Hold & Unfold framework extends across mental health contexts. This is not about performance or productivity. It is about presence — and the deliberate practice of unfolding one’s story with care.

Healing Art Circle

Healing Art Circles are virtual expressive art groups offered in a semi-structured format. Guided by the Hold & Unfold reflective framework, "The Seven Invitations," each session integrates art-making, reflection, and shared witnessing.
The focus is not artistic outcome, but emotional integration — creating space for what is present to take shape and gently unfold.

Healing Art Card Deck

The Healing Art Card Deck offers structured, art-based prompts that support reflection, regulation, and meaning-making. Designed for use anywhere — from treatment settings to moments of solitude — the deck invites journaling, creative expression, and embodied awareness at your own pace.

Zora, creator

Zora is a psychiatric–mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) trainee at Yale School of Nursing and an inpatient psychiatric RN with a background in oncology. Her clinical path was shaped by her mother’s cancer journey, an experience that continues to inform her commitment to integrating mental health care into cancer treatment.

She has worked across oncology and psychiatry settings and is now training in psycho-oncology, focusing on the emotional, cognitive, and existential dimensions of serious illness.
Alongside her clinical work, Zora is the founder of Hold & Unfold, a creative healing initiative that blends neuroscience-informed art prompts, somatic awareness, and reflective practice. She designs and facilitates healing art groups for cancer thrivers and caregivers and is developing the Healing Art Card Deck to make structured, meaningful creative reflection more accessible beyond the therapy room. Her work emphasizes agency, cultural humility, and the power of focused attention in cultivating resilience.

Pixie the Snoot

Pixie is a spirited corgi with a calm center and a playful heart. She believes in short walks, long naps, and greeting each day with quiet courage. A gentle companion in uncertain seasons, Pixie reminds us that steadiness and joy can live side by side
